Welcome and thank you for visiting JOJY Music for Children.
***With pandemic restrictions easing in the Vancouver Coastal Health Region, we were hoping to offer in-person programming for the 2022 Spring Term . However, due to prior commitments and scheduling conflicts, we have been unable to do so. Therefore, JOJY Music for Children’s 2022 Spring Term programming will remain exclusively online. Our Spring Term classes are now available for registration. We are already planning a full rollout of in-person North Shore programming for Fall 2022 and thank you for your patience with this transition.***
At JOJY Music for Children we offer unique curriculum-based music programs designed to enhance your child’s enjoyment of music and development of musical skills while nurturing their self-esteem and confidence. Our program combines various concepts based upon the pedagogical approaches of Carl Orff and Zoltán Kodály.
JOJY founders, Jennifer and Justin, are former Capilano Community Music School instructors who formed their unique teaching style under the tutelage of Nadine Bohna, founder of the original Kodaly Orff Music for Children program at Capilano University. They are proudly carrying on her 35 year legacy of methodology whilst bringing fresh ideas and energy to their programming.
Our goal is to nurture a love of music within all of our students. The narrow age ranges in our program allow us to tailor developmentally appropriate curriculum to each class; this in turn allows us to effectively teach core music fundamentals within a fun-filled and joyful learning environment.
We normally offer in-person classes at three locations on the North Shore (click on location for directions/map): St. Catherine’s Church in Edgemont Village, Mount Seymour United Church in Parkgate, and West Van Community Centre in Dundarave (for registration for our programs at WVCC, please click here).
Our Fall Term consists of 13 lessons and runs from Sept 7th – Dec. 16th, 2019.
Our Winter Term consists of 8 lessons and runs from Jan 11th – Mar 9th, 2020.
Our Online Spring Term consists of 10 lessons and runs from April 7th – June 13th, 2020.
Our Summer Term runs July through August 2020.
